May 2025: Itty Bitty and 8-Harness Study Groups

Study groups allow IPWG members the opportunity to further explore, discuss, and study weaving in a small group setting.  Two of our study groups, Itty Bitty and 8-Harness, shared the special topics and projects they have been working on, and what they’ve learned in the process, along with samples of their work.

Itty Bitty

The Itty Bitty Study Group group started up again in Fall 2023. A rough definition of an Itty-Bitty loom is one that will fit comfortably in the passenger seat of your car. This can be an inkle loom, smaller rigid heddle loom, backstop loom, or pin loom.

8-Harness

The 8-Harness Study Group formed in the fall of 2023 as an “in person” group for those wishing to be challenged on their 8-harness floor or table loom. In 2024-2025, the group studied Carol Strickler’s Atwater/Bronson Lace patterns as a gamp and using this as a jumping-off point for something that personally interested each member.
