February 2025: Marilyn Murphy, “Textile Traditions of the Peruvian Highlands” and Andean Textile Arts

Marilyn Murphy, founder of the Textile Arts Centre and owner of the Weaving Workshop, both formerly on Diversey Parkway in Chicago, spoke to us via Zoom about the work of Andean Textile Arts to support the people and communities of the Andes in their efforts to preserve and revitalize their textile traditions. She presented a wonderful video narrated by weaver Jennifer Moore that showed a wide range of traditional Peruvian textile traditions.
