Illinois Prairie Weavers is a Chicago Area Guild for Handweavers

Our goal as a guild is to promote and advance handweaving by coming together as weavers to teach, encourage and inspire one another by sharing our knowledge, and providing the opportunity to learn from experienced weavers. The guild is open to anyone interested in weaving. We are nonpartisan and noncommercial.

Monthly Meetings

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month from September through June unless otherwise indicated on our Program Schedule page. We start with an officers' meeting and social time at 9:30 a.m. and all members are welcome to attend the meeting. The regular meeting starts at 10:00 a.m. with a brief business update, a "show and tell", and a topical program. If a workshop is included, it will begin after the program (see Program Schedule page for more details).

DUES: $25.00 annually
WORKSHOPS: Additional charges apply

Meeting Location

Congregation Etz Chaim Temple
1710 S. Highland Avenue

Meeting Cancellation Policy

In the event of severe weather or other emergency, the decision to cancel a regularly scheduled meeting will be made by the 1st Vice President ("1VP") or other person in charge of running the program for that day. The 1VP will contact the following people:

  • Email Coordinator (who will post a notice on the website and send an email to all members of the guild)
  • Hospitality Chair
  • All board members

Every effort will be made to accomplish these steps by 8 a.m. on the day of the meeting.

Members who do not have an email address are encouraged to contact the 1VP or any other board member to find out if a meeting has been cancelled.
